Authorities in Lolab Launch Preventive Inspections to Ensure Meat Quality – Alfaaz – The Words

Lolab (Kupwara): In a proactive step to maintain public health standards and consumer safety, authorities in Lolab conducted a series of surprise inspections across local hotels and meat outlets to ensure that only fresh and quality meat is being sold and served in the area.

Acting on the directions of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Lolab Dr. Mudasir Ahmad, the Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) Sogam Gulzar Ahmad, accompanied by officials from various departments, led the drive. As part of the initiative, a vehicle arriving from Srinagar was also stopped and checked.

Officials clarified that the inspection was a routine quality-check measure aimed at ruling out any possibility of stale or substandard meat being circulated or served in the region. “This is purely a preventive action to uphold hygiene and safety standards. We want to ensure that such issues never arise in the first place,” said the TSO.

He added that any establishment found flouting norms would face strict action, including sealing of premises and legal proceedings. He also encouraged the public to stay vigilant and immediately report any concerns related to meat quality. “When eating out, don’t hesitate to ask about the source and freshness of the meat being served,” he advised, speaking to Alfaaz – The Words.

In a separate visit, the TSO travelled to the remote hilly area of Kakkadpati Diver to oversee ration distribution. Acknowledging the difficulties faced by residents in high-altitude villages, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring consistent access to essential supplies.

“We understand how vital these rations are for our people in the upper reaches. That’s why on-ground visits are necessary, to prevent disruption and listen to local concerns firsthand,” he said, assuring locals of swift support in case of any shortfalls.
