Sogam: In a move to safeguard public health, authorities on Tuesday conducted surprise inspections in various eateries across Sogam in Lolab area.
The officials from Food Safety Department, in coordination with Tehsildar Sogam Saqib Murtaza, SHO Sogam Javid Ahmad, PSO Food Supplies Department Gulzar Ahmad Wani, and the Food Safety Enforcement Team, targeted restaurants, hotels, roadside dhabas, and tea stalls, focusing on compliance with hygiene protocols and food safety standards.
During the inspections, several expired and unhygienic items, including biryani, rotten meat, and frozen products, were seized and destroyed on the spot. Fines were also imposed on several establishments for serving substandard food.
Notably, Study Café was commended for maintaining proper hygiene and food quality.
Officials stated that such enforcement drives will continue, with strict action against violators to ensure safe and hygienic food for the public.
