Authorities Conduct Market Inspection in Sogam Lolab

Kupwara: Authorities on Monday conducted an extensive market checking drive in Sogam area of Lolab on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Shrikant Suse to ensure compliance with market regulations amid ongoing holy Ramadan month.

The inspection was carried out under the supervision of Tehsildar Sogam Saqib Murtaza, with participation of officials from SHO Sogam Javid Ahmad and TSO Sogam Gulzar Ahmad Wani, and other officials. Several shops and business establishments were inspected during the drive.

Shopkeepers were directed to display updated rate lists and maintain quality standards. Traders were advised to avoid overpricing and ensure that essential commodities are sold at approved rates.

During the drive, expired and substandard food items were detected and destroyed on the spot. Fines were imposed on erring shopkeepers for violations.

Officials said the exercise was aimed at ensuring fair market practices and safeguarding consumer interests amid Ramadan month. They added that similar drives will continue in the coming days.
