Jammu, Feb 7: Bharatiya Janata Party’s National General Secretary and Prabhari for J&K, Tarun Chugh, on Saturday said that the abrogation of Article 370 marked a decisive end to decades of constitutional discrimination against the women of the region, “liberating them from unjust laws” and ensuring their full integration into India’s progressive legal framework.

As per KNS, Chugh said that the historic move of August 2019 was not merely a political decision but a profound social justice measure for J&K’s women. “For generations, the women of J&K were deprived of fundamental constitutional rights under the shadow of Article 370. They faced legal apartheid in matters of property, marriage, and residency. Today, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s firm leadership, that era of inequality is over,” Chugh asserted.

He said that the nullification of Article 370 has enabled the uniform application of central laws, granting women equal rights to property, inheritance, and robust legal protection against domestic violence, dowry harassment, and workplace exploitation.
