Srinagar, Feb 21: A massive fire broke out in Dardharie village of Kupwara district, triggering panic among residents and prompting a swift multi-agency response on Friday.

Troops of the Army’s Chinar Warriors formation rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information about the blaze. Acting in coordination with the Fire and Emergency Services and Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army launched a firefighting and rescue operation to contain the flames and ensure the safety of civilians.

Officials said the timely intervention helped prevent the fire from spreading to adjoining houses, thereby averting major damage to property.

Soldiers assisted in evacuating residents, dousing flames and securing the affected area until the situation was brought under control. No loss of life was reported in the incident, though the extent of property damage was being assessed. The Army reiterated its commitment to assisting civil authorities during emergencies, stating that it remains steadfast in serving the nation and safeguarding citizens, particularly in remote and vulnerable areas of Kashmir.
