Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navaratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has released an official notification for recruitment of Trainee Officer (Library) – I on a temporary basis for its Bengaluru Complex.

Eligible Indian nationals with qualifications in Library & Information Science can apply offline. Selection will be made through a written examination followed by document verification.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification: Graduate / Post Graduate in Library & Information Science from a UGC-recognized university/institute with pass class.

Experience: Minimum 6 months post-qualification experience in Library & Information Science.

Age Limit (as on 01.02.2026)

• Upper Age Limit: 28 years
• Age relaxation applicable for PwBD, SC/ST, OBC and Ex-Servicemen as per Government norms.

Salary & Allowances

• Additional consolidated allowance of Rs. 12,000 per year towards medical insurance, attire, footwear, stitching charges, etc.

Tenure & Career Progression

• Initial engagement: 2 years, extendable by 1 year (maximum 3 years).
• Trainee Officers completing 2 years with satisfactory performance may be considered for advancement to Project Officer-I.
• Retention Bonus up to Rs. 1,00,000 applicable on completion of overall tenure as Project Officer.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Management of digital and print library services
• Procurement, cataloguing, classification, and maintenance of books, journals, e-resources
• Library automation using Libsys (Version 10)
• Inventory control, reporting, and data management
• Supporting online certification exams and academic programs
• User training for library systems and electronic resources

Application Fee

Fee must be paid through SBI Collect (Online Mode).

Selection Process

• Written Test (120 minutes)
• 100 questions (Technical + General Aptitude)
• 1 mark for each correct answer
• 0.25 negative marking for wrong answers
• Minimum qualifying marks:
• General: 35%
• PwBD: 30%
• Written test will be conducted only in Bengaluru.
