Srinagar, July 10: The Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) has formally sought permission from the district administration to hold a Fateh Khawani (prayer meeting) at Mazhar-e-Shuhada in Srinagar on July 13, to pay homage to the martyrs.
In a letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar, JKAP General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir said that a delegation led by party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari will visit the site to offer prayers. The gathering is proposed to be held at 7:00 AM and will comprise no more than 25 members, according to the letter.
The party assured the administration that the event will be peaceful, solemn, and conducted in strict compliance with all norms and protocols laid down by the district authorities.
JKAP has urged the administration to grant the necessary permission at the earliest.
July 13 is historically observed in Kashmir to commemorate those who were killed in the 1931 uprising outside Central Jail Srinagar.
