ANTF Kashmir seizes over 8 kg’s of contraband substance in Srinagar, 1 peddler held

Srinagar, Jan 13: Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Kashmir on Tuesday attained a major success by seizing over 8 kg’s of contraband substance at Palpora locality of Srinagar district and arrested one drug peddler.

An official said that ANTF Kashmir received a specific information through reliable source to the effect that one drug peddler namely Mehraj-ud-Din Sheikh, son of Abdul Ahad Sheikh, resident of Vicharnag Nowshera Srinagar carrying Charas powder to sell the same substance among other drug peddlers at Palpora Srinagar. Acting upon the information, ANTF Kashmir established a naka at Palpora Srinagar and arrested the said drug peddler.

During search, 8.33Kgs of charas powder-like substance concealed in a Nylon gunny bag was recovered from his possession, officials said.

They said a case vide FIR No. 01/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station ANTF Kashmir and further investigation in forward/backward linkage is going on.

This achievement reflects the commitment of ANTF Kashmir to combating narcotics trafficking and ensuring the safety of the community. The police remain committed to taking strict legal action under the NDPS Act against offenders and their assets, the officials held.
