Srinagar, Mar 7: In celebration of International Women’s Day, Amandeep Hospital, in partnership with Ujala Cygnus Healthcare Services has announced a special healthcare initiative titled “Chalti Rahe Woh – Women’s Joint Care Week”, scheduled from  March 8 to March 14.

As part of this week-long initiative, free orthopaedic consultations will be offered to all women experiencing knee pain, back pain, hip discomfort, arthritis symptoms, spine issues, or concerns related to bone health and osteoporosis.

Joint and spine problems among women often go undiagnosed and untreated, as many tend to prioritise family responsibilities over their own health. Hormonal changes, especially post-pregnancy and post-menopause, increase the risk of bone density loss and joint degeneration, significantly impacting mobility and quality of life. This campaign aims to encourage early evaluation, timely diagnosis, and preventive care.

Dr. Avtar Singh, Senior Orthopaedic Surgeon, shared his thoughts on the initiative: “Women are the backbone of every family, yet when it comes to their own health, they often delay seeking medical attention. Joint pain, back pain, and early signs of arthritis are frequently ignored until mobility becomes severely restricted.

Regular orthopaedic check-ups are not just about treating pain — they are about preserving independence and quality of life. Especially after the age of 40, and even more so post-menopause, women are at higher risk of osteoporosis and joint degeneration. Early screening and timely intervention can prevent long-term disability and the need for major surgery. Through ‘Chalti Rahe Woh’, our goal is simple — to ensure that every woman continues to walk confidently, actively, and pain-free.” During Women’s Joint Care Week, consultations will focus on: Knee pain and early arthritis, back and neck pain, hip joint problems, osteoporosis screening guidance, post-menopausal bone health, lifestyle counselling for joint preservation. Women are encouraged to book their appointments during the week and take the first step towards stronger bones and better mobility, it further added.
