Srinagar: After nearly 22 hours of blackout, Airtel IND restored its telecom services across Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday afternoon. The services had gone down around 3:50 PM on Tuesday, leaving lakhs of subscribers cut off from mobile and internet connectivity amid extreme weather vagaries.
Despite the restoration, customers especially across Jammu and Kashmir continue to report severe inconvenience, alleging that Airtel has failed to provide seamless connectivity. Several subscribers have complained that services remain erratic, with frequent signal loss, call drops and poor data speed.
Notably, Airtel IND, a major telecom service provider in Jammu and Kashmir, in its official statement had announced special measures to support users, including intra-circle roaming (ICR) in Jammu, Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh to allow customers to stay connected through other available networks. However, users in many areas maintain that the facility is not functioning as promised.
With rains and extreme weather continuing to disrupt normal life in the region, the communication breakdown has added to people’s difficulties, especially in remote areas.
