Kupwara: Advocate Dawood Bashir Bhat, Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) leader and Lolab Constituency In-charge, along with party workers, on Monday met the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara to discuss important development issues affecting the Lolab region.

During the meeting, the delegation highlighted pending matters concerning NTPC Lalpora, manpower improvements, and healthcare infrastructure. Specific demands included the installation of an X-ray facility with trained technicians at the local hospital, establishment of a hotline for NTPC Lalpora, and construction of quarters for the Tehsildar Lalpora. The appointment of a regular Principal at Higher Secondary School Lalpora and upgradation of the Muqaam–Dardpora main road were also discussed.

The delegation further stressed the need for improved facilities at NTPHC Tekipora, including solar plant issues, and requested the installation of an ATM near NTPC Lalpora hospital to benefit residents. They also highlighted acute drinking water shortages, poor electrical infrastructure, and the urgent requirement for additional transformers in areas including Mir Mohalla Doorisa, Sonnar Payeen, and Kuligam. Long-standing gaps, such as the absence of electric poles in Muskijal and the condition of Muqaam–Dardpora and Kawari–Lolab roads, were flagged as pressing concerns.

Advocate Bhat urged the District Administration to address these issues promptly to ensure efficient public services and prevent inconvenience to residents. The delegation also expressed appreciation for the Winter Carnival Festival in Lolab, noting its potential to promote tourism, create employment opportunities for local youth, and contribute to the valley’s economic growth.
