After Nedous, GDA Takes Over Royal Park Hotel

SRINAGAR: The Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) on Friday took possession of the Royal Park Hotel after the expiry of its lease agreement, weeks after reclaiming the historic Nedous Hotel.

Officials said that the GDA-owned property had been rented to a local businessman several decades ago. The lease period ended in June this year and was not renewed, prompting the authority to reclaim the hotel to prevent unauthorised occupation.

The handover was carried out in the presence of officials and was described as smooth and peaceful.

The action follows the high-profile eviction of the 137-year-old Nedous Hotel on August 04, part of a broader government initiative to retrieve public assets in Gulmarg whose lease agreements have lapsed.

Authorities said the Royal Park property will remain under the GDA’s control until a decision is made about its future use. (KNO)
