Rajouri, Feb 27: After suspension of Indus Water Treaty (IWT) post Pahalgam attack, the Jammu and Kashmir government is eyeing to explore the water potential in J&K with engineers at Sardar Sarovar Dam in Gujarat hoping to receive a delegation of concern ministry and officers of Jammu and Kashmir government as was discussed with them by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during his recent visit of Dam site.

CM Omar had visited Sardar Sarovar Dam in Gujarat on July 31 last year where a team of experts headed by Guide Mayur Singh Raul briefed him about the dam which is second largest in the world in terms of concrete volume.

Recalling the visit of CM Omar, the engineers said that the J&K CM while praising the management of dam had informed that a team from Jammu and Kashmir government would visit the site and understand all the dimensions of dam project.

The engineers of this dam were interacting with Greater Kashmir during the visit of journalists from Jammu to Gujarat.

The visit is organised by PIB Jammu.

Informing about the massive technologcal features and construction of this dam, the engineers said that during CM Omar’s visit, he understood every thing associated with the project.

“He keenly listened and understood the overall briefing from our side and appreciated our dedication,” the engineers said.

“He talked about the water potential of J&K and told us that a team from the concerned ministry and engineers as well as officers will visit the area,” they said. “Everyone in the dam administration is looking towards receiving this delegation of Jammu and Kashmir.”
