ACB Busts Irregularities in Fire and Emergency Department

SRINAGAR: The Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday has uncovered irregularities in the recruitment process for fireman and fireman driver posts in the fire and emergency services department.

According to an official statement by ACB, the inquiry follows a complaint regarding the 2020 recruitment process. Initial verification conducted by the ACB’s Central Unit revealed that several candidates were wrongly selected, prompting the registration of FIR No 01/2025 on January 1, 2025.

“This recruitment process involved the selection of nearly 700 candidates, making it large-scale operation that requires careful and detailed scrutiny,” the ACB spokesperson said.” “We are examining extensive records to uncover the modus operandi used and to pinpoint all individuals involved”.

The Bureau emphasised that the process is complex and time consuming but assured the public especially the affected aspirants that it is proceeding with utmost diligence.

“The ACB is committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice is served. Every irregularity  will be addressed, and all responsible individuals will be held accountable,” spokesperson added.

Furthermore, the investigation remains ongoing in the case. (GNS)
