SRINAGAR: Aamina Zehra from Jammu and Kashmir has won a gold medal at the 3rd Junior Asian Pencak Silat Championship held at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Stadium, Srinagar.

The international championship saw participation from athletes representing 11 countries. Aamina’s feat is historic as she is the only girl from Jammu and Kashmir to secure a gold medal in the event.

Expressing her joy, Aamina credited her coach Nassir Digoo for his “unwavering support and tireless guidance.” She also thanked India’s chief coach Irfaz Aziz Botta and Mohd Iqbal for mentoring her throughout the preparation and competition.

The championship served as a platform for young martial artists across Asia and underscored the rising prominence of Jammu and Kashmir in Pencak Silat, a traditional martial art form gaining popularity in the region.
