SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir Police have filed a case against the owner and staff of Hotel Samrat in Udhampur for allegedly failing to report the stay of a foreign national, a violation of the Foreigners Act, officials said on Thursday, according to Daily Excelsior.
According to a police spokesperson, the lapse was discovered during a routine inspection, which revealed that the hotel management had not submitted Form C—a mandatory online report required for all foreign guests under the Foreigners Act.
Police said that a foreign national had stayed at the hotel a few days earlier, but neither the owner nor the staff informed the Senior Superintendent of Police, who also serves as the Foreigners Registration Officer, as required by law.
A case has been registered at Udhampur Police Station, and investigations are in progress, the spokesperson added.
Authorities have urged all hotel and lodging operators to strictly comply with the legal provisions governing the accommodation of foreign nationals and ensure the timely submission of Form C to avoid punitive action.
