Ganderbal, Oct 8: The Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) organised the valedictory function of its “Hindi Pakhvara,” held from September 14 to 30, at the Tulmulla Campus on Wednesday. The event was conducted under the aegis of the university’s Rajbhasha Cell.
Speaking at the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. A. Ravinder Nath congratulated staff members for their active participation in competitions such as administrative vocabulary dictation, essay and letter writing, translation, poetry, and Hindi noting and drafting. “These activities encourage employees to correspond in Hindi more frequently, promoting its practical application in daily office functioning,” he said.
Registrar Dr Nisar Ahmad Mir appreciated staff for their bilingual proficiency in Hindi and English, stressing that familiarity with Hindi eases communication across India, where most road signs and instructions are displayed in the language.
Dean of the School of Life Sciences, Dr Abid Hamid Dar, noted that Hindi serves as a unifying thread across India’s cultural and linguistic diversity and emphasised the importance of cherishing and advancing the language as a symbol of shared identity.
Controller of Examinations Prof. C. Naseema encouraged participants to develop both written and spoken fluency in Hindi, underscoring its role as a link language that transcends religious and regional boundaries.
