Jammu Kashmir: Militants, Forces Exchange Gunfire

SRINAGAR: Militants opened fire on a team of the Jammu Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) in Rajouri district of Jammu Kashmir on Tuesday evening, officials said, as per Daily Excelsior.

The incident occurred around 7:20 pm in the Koteranka area, where locals reported hearing the sound of 10-15 gunshots. According to police sources, the SOG team was carrying out a search operation in the locality when the assailants opened fire.

However, no injuries or casualties have been reported so far.

Following the attack, security forces quickly retaliated and cordoned off the area and launched a search to locate the attackers. The identity of the perpetrators remains unknown, and no arrests have been made yet.

The incident comes amid heightened security operations in Jammu and Kashmir, where the police and paramilitary forces regularly conduct anti-militancy drives in sensitive districts, including Rajouri.
