SRINAGAR: Demonstrating compassion and solidarity in the wake of devastating floods in Jammu & Kashmir, employees of J&K Bank have contributed Rs 4.10 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, aimed at supporting victims of the recent calamity, which caused widespread destruction, particularly in major parts of the Jammu region.

The cheque was formally handed over today by MD and CEO Amitava Chatterjee to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at the Civil Secretariat, in the presence of Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Principal Secretary (Finance) Santosh D Vaidya, Executive Director Sudhir Gupta, CGM Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat, and senior bank officials, including General Managers Rakesh Koul and Rakesh Magotra, and DGM Tanveer Hussain.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed his gratitude to the bank employees for their generosity, noting that such contributions strengthen the government’s efforts to deliver timely relief and assistance to those in need.

Speaking on the occasion, Amitava Chatterjee reiterated the bank’s deep-rooted commitment to the people of Jammu Kashmir. “As an institution embedded in this region, the Bank has always drawn its strength from the people. At a time when so many families are facing hardships due to the floods, it is only natural for us as a family to stand shoulder to shoulder with them. This contribution reflects the compassion of our employees and our commitment to support the rehabilitation process,” he said.

In addition to the monetary contribution, the bank’s employees had earlier distributed relief materials worth Rs 1 crore among flood-affected families across various parts of Jammu, highlighting the institution’s proactive role in humanitarian assistance.

This gesture by JK Bank underscores the continued collaboration between financial institutions and the government in addressing crises, reaffirming their role not just as service providers but as active contributors to the welfare of the communities they serve.
