Mirwaiz Condoles Demise of Former Islamia School Principal Hirdey Nath Koul

SRINAGAR: Hirdey Nath Koul, former principal of Islamia School and a noted educationist, passed away, drawing widespread tributes for his decades-long contribution to education in Kashmir.

Paying homage, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said Koul’s role in nurturing generations of students with commitment and dedication would always be remembered and respected.

In a post on X, Mirwaiz highlighted the legacy of Kashmiri Pandit teachers who taught in schools run by Anjuman Nusratul Islam, recalling how they even marked attendance for Muslim students during afternoon prayers at Jama Masjid. “Their role in shaping our society and their immense contribution in education will always be remembered and honoured,” he wrote.

Expressing condolences, Mirwaiz extended sympathies to the bereaved family, describing Koul’s passing as a significant loss to Kashmir’s academic community.
