Kupwara: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shri Kant Bala Saheb, on Wednesday undertook an extensive tour of Lolab valley to review developmental works and assess public service delivery.

The DC was accompanied by SDM Lolab Mudasir Ahmad, Principal Government Degree College Sogam Shameem Ahmed, Executive Engineer R&B Hilal Abbasi, DSP Lolab Javid Ahmad, BMO Sogam Dr. Javid Ahmad, Tehsildar Sogam, Tehsildar Lalpora, BDO Sogam Abdul Rashid, and Range Officer Sogam Athar Parvaiz, besides several other officers.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected facilities at KGBV Potushai, Sub-District Hospital Sogam, ICDS Block Headquarters Sogam, and the PHE office at Warnow. At each site, he sought detailed updates, directed officials to expedite ongoing works, and emphasized strict adherence to quality standards.

Later, chairing a meeting at Government Degree College Sogam, the DC instructed officers to ensure time-bound completion of projects in the subdivision. “People’s trust in the administration depends on timely action and tangible results,” he said, stressing the need for prompt redressal of public grievances.

Local residents welcomed the DC’s outreach but voiced concerns over delays. “Roads in our area are in poor condition. If projects are completed soon, it will bring relief to students, patients and rest of the population,” said a resident of Lalpora. Another villager from Potushai remarked, “We hope this visit translates into real change with regard to availability of basic amenities to the locals.”

Officials accompanying the DC assured that priority will be given to completing road works, strengthening health services, and improving drinking water facilities across Lolab.

The Deputy Commissioner concluded by reaffirming the administration’s focus on “accelerated development, efficient service delivery, and swift grievance redressal” in the valley, long seen as a strategically important region.
