Police Seize Four Vehicles for Illegal Mineral Transport

SRINAGAR: In continuation of its ongoing drive against illegal mining, JK Police have intensified efforts to combat illegal mining activities in the Police district Handwara and has seized four tractors involved in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals.

An official said that police teams of Police Post Langat, Police Post Chogul and Police post zachaldara headed by supervisory officers seized four tractors involved in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals.

Subsequently, proceedings under the provisions of the (MMDR Act) have been initiated, and further investigation is in progress.

Police requested community members to come forward with any information regarding illegal mining activities in their neighborhood, and assured strict action against the violators as per law.
