SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Government Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma on Wednesday announced the launch of the paperless PVC ration card, called RC, and outlined measures to improve transport services in the Union Territory.

Sharma said the PVC card will be issued from October 1 onwards. “We have launched the PVC card, which is paperless. This will ensure that all data is available in one place and reduce the inconvenience caused when cards are lost or damaged,” he said.

On transport services, Sharma noted that the government is addressing existing gaps. “There are shortcomings in the transport department, and it will take time to resolve them. Recently, Jammu and Kashmir faced floods and other emergencies. Our priority is to rescue people, provide relief, and begin rehabilitation,” he said.

He added that a new transport office will be established alongside the RTO office to provide citizens with all services at a single location. “This will reduce difficulties and make services more accessible,” he said.

Sharma also referred to discussions with central ministers regarding issues like ration card splits and fair price shop concerns. “We raised these matters with the visiting minister from Delhi. Solutions are expected soon, and the required support will be provided,” he said.

On infrastructure development, Sharma said, “Some repairs will take time, but there can never be two power centers. We expect Delhi to fulfill its commitments. Although delayed, we hope these projects will be completed soon.”

The PVC card initiative and improved transport facilities aim to streamline public services and make them more accessible to residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
