SRINAGAR: Police have registered two FIRs and seized rotten meat during a joint market inspection conducted by special Flying Squads in Budgam district to curb the sale of unsafe food items.

Officials said the inspection teams, comprising members from multiple departments, found rotten meat being sold at two separate locations. An FIR was lodged at Police Station Budgam against Wazwaan Point Restaurant, while another FIR (No. 143/2025) was filed at Police Station Magam against Big Boss Restaurant, Magam, for selling unhygienic Wazwaan items prepared from meat.

Legal action has been initiated under Sections 271, 272, and 275 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, police said.

Authorities warned that violations of this nature pose a grave risk to public health and will not be tolerated. Inspections and strict monitoring will continue, with stringent action to be taken against establishments found selling rotten, substandard, or unhygienic food.
