Srinagar: The three-day New Criminal Laws Exhibition, organized by the Economic Offences Wing (Crime Branch Kashmir) at JK Police Public School, Bemina, concluded on Saturday with strong public participation and encouraging feedback.

Inaugurated on September 11 by Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the exhibition was aimed at raising awareness about India’s newly enacted criminal laws viz. the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023.

The event drew over 9,000 visitors, including students, legal professionals, civil society members and citizens, with more than 5,500 attending in the first two days alone. Organizers, as per Alfaaz – The Words, said the turnout reflected a growing public interest in the country’s restructured criminal justice system.

Designed as an interactive platform, the exhibition promoted legal literacy, civic responsibility and dialogue between citizens and law enforcement agencies.

At the closing ceremony, Inspector General of Police (Crime Branch J&K) Sujit Kumar, IPS, who presided as Chief Guest, praised the initiative for bridging the gap between law enforcement and the public through awareness and engagement.

The Economic Offences Wing thanked participants and stakeholders, calling the exhibition a “resounding success” in fostering legal awareness across the Valley.
