
SRINAGAR: Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across multiple districts over the next ten days to facilitate maintenance, augmentation, and emergency restoration works.
According to the Chief Engineer, JKPTCL Kashmir, a major shutdown has been planned on September 16 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm to carry out leftover works at 132/33 KV Grid Stations Pattan and Magam. During this period, 33KV feeders including Pattan, Markundal, HMT, and Gulmarg will remain affected, leading to outages at receiving stations in Pattan, Hamray, Tangmarg, Gulmarg, Shadipora, and several adjoining areas.
Separately, on September 13, shutdown of Magam, Kongamdara, and Beerwah feeders will impact power supply to Mazhama, Kunzar, Khag, Beerwah, Arizal and surrounding areas during the same 8:00 am to 3:00 pm window.
In another major disruption, JKPTCL said continuous shutdown will be observed from 5:00 pm on September 11 to 5:00 pm on September 13 for emergency restoration of a damaged tower. This will affect 18 feeders emanating from Amargarh, Vilgam, Arampora, and Pattan, leading to power curtailments in Sopore, Bandipora, Kupwara, Handwara, Gulmarg, Tangmarg and adjoining belts.
Meanwhile, KPDCL announced shutdowns on the 33KV Handwara Old line on September 16 and 20 from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm to upgrade conductors. This will affect power supply to Zachaldara, Adoora, Changimull and nearby areas.
In Jammu region, JPDCL officials said supply will remain suspended in parts of Parade, Jagti, Pragalta, Residency Road, Krishna Nagar and adjoining mohallas between 12 and 20 September from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on a rotational basis.
Additionally, JPDCL’s O and M Circle Kathua has announced outages in Jatwal and adjoining areas on 13 September from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm, in Vijaypur on September 13 and 15 from 6:30 am to 11:30 am, and in Meen and surrounding villages on September 13 from 6:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Officials said the shutdowns are necessary for preventive maintenance, system upgrades, and stabilisation, urging consumers to bear with the inconvenience.
