16 houses declared unsafe after landslide threat in Reasi’s Hassote village

Reasi, Sep 09: Authorities on Monday late night directed the relocation of 16 houses in Hassote Panchayat (B), Tehsil Chassana, district Reasi, after incessant rains damaged the hilly terrain and triggered a looming landslide threat.

An official said that after inspecting the affected site and, after assessment, it was decided to immediately shift the residents to a safer location to prevent any loss of life.

He said all affected families are residents of Hassote Panchayat (B), Tehsil Chassana, and have been advised not to return until the area is declared safe again.

He added that continuous rainfall has left several parts of Reasi vulnerable to landslides, prompting precautionary evacuations to safeguard lives.

Further measures are being taken by the local administration to identify and secure other sensitive spots in the district. (KNC)
