SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 6 lakh each for the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the landslide at Mata Vaishno Devi and in other flood-related incidents over the past two days. Of this amount, Rs 4 lakh will be provided from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and Rs 2 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
The government has also approved financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh for the severely injured and Rs 50,000 for those with minor injuries.
In a parallel move, the Chief Minister directed the advance placement of Rs 10 crore with each Deputy Commissioner across the Union Territory to address immediate requirements of relief, rehabilitation and restoration efforts.
Meanwhile, authorities have been put on alert to ensure timely assistance to affected families and expedite restoration works in the flood-hit areas.
