Kupwara: Patient care at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Langate and Community Health Centre (CHC) Kralgund has come to a standstill after doctors and medical staff went on strike on Monday, protesting the alleged assault on a doctor and allied staff at CHC Kralgund.
As reported by Alfaaz – The Words, an attendant allegedly assaulted members of the medical team, leaving one doctor seriously injured. The incident forced staff to seek safety at the local police station and lodge a formal complaint. Police have since arrested the accused and registered an FIR under relevant sections.
In response, the Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) issued a strong statement condemning the assault, terming it barbaric and unacceptable. The association said such incidents are a direct attack on the medical fraternity and called for strict action against the perpetrators, a time-bound investigation, and enhanced security measures at health facilities.
As the strike continues, the patients are visiting alternate health facilities to seek treatment.
