Kupwara: Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir Range (NKR), Maqsood-ul-Zaman, on Wednesday visited Kupwara district to take stock of the security situation and review counter-terrorism preparedness of the forces.
During the visit, the DIG inspected multiple operational units and interacted with officers including SSP Kupwara Ghulam Jeelani and other officials. At the SOG Camp in Lolab, he chaired a Darbar with personnel to hear their grievances, resolving several issues on the spot and issuing directions for swift redressal of pending concerns.
A detailed assessment of counter-terrorism preparedness was also carried out. ASP Kupwara, Syed Javaid, who also serves as SP Operations, presented a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing threat perceptions, operational strategies, and area domination plans.
Emphasis was laid on enhanced coordination, intelligence sharing, and maintaining a high level of operational alertness.
Later, the DIG visited TOB Dardpora Lolab, where he reviewed deployment patterns in sensitive zones and interacted with field officers and jawans. He lauded their commitment and urged them to maintain professionalism while working under challenging circumstances.
Addressing the officers, Maqsood-ul-Zaman stressed on adopting people-friendly policing while taking firm measures against elements disturbing peace.
He underscored the importance of community engagement, confidence-building measures, and continuous training to deal with evolving security challenges.
