SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted a Union Territory-level Census Coordination Committee tasked with ensuring smooth planning, implementation, and monitoring of the upcoming Population Census 2027.
According to a Government Order, the committee will be chaired by the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir. The Director of Census Operations, Jammu and Kashmir has been appointed as the convener.
The members of the panel include Administrative Secretaries of the Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, Finance Department, Housing and Urban Development Department, Revenue Department, School Education Department, and Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, besides the Director Planning (Expenditure Division-II, Finance Department).
The terms of reference mandate the committee to coordinate all Census-related activities in the Union Territory, ensure timely availability of infrastructure, logistics, and resources, and periodically review the progress of Census 2027 operations. (KNC)
