Srinagar, Aug 18: The Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) cricket team rode on sparkling centuries from Qamran Iqbal and Musaif Aijaz to post a commanding 393/5 at stumps on Day 1 against Indian Railways in the All India Buchi Babu Invitation Cricket Tournament on Monday.
Put into bat after Railways won the toss, J&K suffered an early setback when Yawar Hassan fell for 14 with the score at 43. But opener Qamran Iqbal and one-down batter Musaif Aijaz stitched together a mammoth 216-run stand for the second wicket, turning the innings around in grand style.
Qamran anchored the innings with a patient 138 off 249 balls (8 fours, 6 sixes), while Aijaz played fluently for his 114 off 166 balls (5 fours, 2 sixes). Their partnership not only steadied J&K but also put them firmly on top.
Later contributions from Abdul Samad (37 off 29), Abid Mushtaq (37 off 18), and skipper Paras Dogra (30* off 30) helped J&K finish the day strongly at 393/5.
For Indian Railways, Akash Pandey was the most successful bowler with 3/109 in 24 overs, while Adarsh Singh picked up two wickets.
With a solid platform set, Jammu & Kashmir will now look to push for an imposing first-innings total, while Railways will aim for early wickets on Day 2 to start chasing JKCA’s total.
