Pakistani intruder injured in warning shots along Kathua IB, dies

Jammu, Aug 11: The Border Security Force (BSF) stated that a Pakistani national, who was apprehended by firing warning shots when he tried to cross the border fence after intruding through the International Border (IB) in the Kathua district on Monday evening, died in the hospital during treatment.

BSF said that its personnel, after arresting the man, sent him to a nearby health facility.

He, however, succumbed during the treatment in the hospital, and a protest was being lodged (by BSF) with Pakistan Rangers on this account, the Force said.

“On the evening of August 11, 2025, BSF troops observed suspicious movement wherein a Pak national was observed crossing the IB and approaching aggressively towards the border fence in the Kathua district of the Jammu region. He was warned by alert troops but paid no heed. BSF troops sensing threat fired on his legs,” PRO BSF Jammu said in an official statement.

“He was taken into BSF custody and sent to a nearby health facility. Later on, during his treatment in the hospital, he succumbed. Protest is being lodged with counterpart (Pakistan Rangers),” PRO BSF said.
