SRINAGAR: Sartaj, a resident of Shadimarg had been coordinating a campaign to raise funds for the treatment of a critically ill family member, shared information about the death of the patient.

The family has expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support they received during a medical emergency, and has now announced the closure of their crowdfunding campaign following the patient’s passing.

“Our patient was in a very critical situation. We needed financial funds for that. The people of Kashmir supported us,” he said. “Now that the patient has passed away, we request the people of Kashmir that our case is closed. You don’t have to deposit any money in this account.”

According to Sartaj, the campaign raised a total of Rs 27 lakh, with generous contributions from people across Kashmir, family members, and friends abroad. Of this, around Rs 16 lakh was used for the patient’s treatment and related expenses.

In a move marked by transparency and goodwill, Sartaj confirmed that the remaining funds will be set aside for the patient’s seven-year-old child.

“The rest of the money that is left, the whole community has decided that you deposit the remaining money in the name of the child,” he explained. “So that he can use it for his future, for higher qualifications.”

He also made it clear that the account used for collecting funds has now been frozen, emphasising multiple times that no further donations are needed.

“We have also frozen the account of Surjeet Kaur. You don’t have to deposit any money in this account,” Sartaj repeated, aiming to ensure full closure of the campaign.

“We cannot summarise it. Whatever it was, it was in front of you. You supported us. We are thankful for that,” Sartaj concluded.
