Top 10 countries with fastest mobile Internet—where India stands

Srinagar, Aug 07: In today’s digital age, internet connectivity is nearly universal, with approximately 5.56 billion people online worldwide as of early 2025, according to DataReportal.

As more aspects of daily life shift online, the global expansion of 5G networks has transformed how people access the internet—boosting mobile usage over traditional desktops and driving a dramatic increase in mobile internet speeds.

Several Gulf nations dominate the rankings, with five of them placing in the global top 10 for mobile internet speed, well above the worldwide average. The broader trend points to Asia and the Middle East leading the pack, while the United States ranks 14th globally at 165.57 Mbps speed.

As per an Indian Express report, India currently ranks at 26^th for median mobile download speed, clocking in at 133.51 Mbps, a three-spot improvement from its previous position.

Data from Ookla reveals that median mobile download speeds have jumped by over 80% globally in the past two years. Leading the way is the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which now ranks first in the world for mobile internet performance. As of June 2025, users in the UAE enjoy a blazing-fast median download speed of 546.14 Mbps, according to the Speedtest Global Index.
