SRINAGAR: Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC secured a dramatic victory over Arco United FC in the second qualifier of the Khyber Cement Kashmir Super League, booking their place in the grand finale after a tense penalty shootout. The match, held in front of a packed stadium, ended in a goalless draw during regulation time and was decided by spot kicks — the first such instance in the tournament’s history. Aqua Kashmir Avengers held their nerve to win the shootout 4-1.

Both teams demonstrated impressive tactical discipline and defensive strength throughout the game, with neither side able to find the back of the net despite creating several chances. The intensity only grew as the match progressed, culminating in a shootout that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. The victory saw Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC advance to the final, where they will face United Elegant FC.

The match witnessed the gracious presence of Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, who attended during halftime. In his address to the crowd, he praised the organisers for their professionalism and expressed appreciation for the large and passionate audience. He also commended the efforts of all stakeholders and sponsors for their role in revitalising football in Jammu & Kashmir through such initiatives.

Several players were recognised for their performances during the match. Salman Lateef of Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC was awarded the Khyber Cement Game Changer Award, while his teammate Burhan Sarwar earned the Khyber Cement Player of the Match title. Jahangir Shagoo of Arco United FC received the Athwas Golden Moment Award, and Shoaib Haneef was honoured with the Events Emporio X Factor Excellence Award. Adnan Ayoub of Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC was named Kings Player of the Match.

The felicitation ceremony was attended by key dignitaries, including Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of the JK Sports Council; Anisa Nabi, Chief Sports Officer; Javid Ahmad, DSO Central; and Mohammad Maqbool Lone from New JK Roadways. They applauded the players and organisers for their efforts in uplifting the football ecosystem in the region.

With this hard-fought win, Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC now advance to the much-anticipated final of the Khyber Cement Kashmir Super League.
