SRINAGAR: A goods train traveling from Jammu to Punjab has derailed near the Lakhanpur area of Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
Official sources, as per Daily Excelsior report said that the incident was reported on Thursday due to incessant rains in the region triggering flash floods which damaged the railway track and led to the train derailment.
“A goods train derailed in Kathua after a flash flood damaged the railway line near Lakhanpur. The train was en route from Jammu to Punjab when the accident unfolded”, they said.
Meanwhile, the railway authorities have promptly arrived at the site and started the operation to repair the damaged track and restore rail services near the affected area.
