Jammu, Jul 9: National Conference (NC) Additional General Secretary and former minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today said that the present dual power system is neither beneficial for J&K nor for the country.

He reiterated his demand for the restoration of statehood. According to a press release, Sadhotra was addressing a party meeting here. During the meeting rich tributes were paid to NC leader Rohit Kerni on on his fifth death anniversary.

Sadhotra recalled Rohit Kerni’s commitment towards strengthening the party at the grassroots level and his unwavering devotion to public welfare. He also highlighted his selfless service, honesty, and dedication towards the party’s mission. He recalled his efforts in engaging with youth on key issues and empowering them to take an active role in politics.

NC leader further said that his services and spirited work, especially among the youth, will continue to inspire generations of party activists. He emphasised the need to carry forward his mission and uphold the values he stood for in public life.

Advocate Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of NC, strongly urged to the Government to expedite the long-pending cases under SRO-43 (Compassionate Appointment) scheme across J&K.

Expressing serious concern over the inordinate delay, the senior NC leader said that the objective of SRO-43 is to provide immediate relief and support to the families of government employees or civilians who lost their lives in service or due to militancy-related actions. “It is highly unfortunate that the families who are already suffering the trauma of losing their loved ones are being made to wait for years due to official apathy,” he stated.

Rattan Lal pointed out that as many as 928 cases under SRO-43 remain pending. He said that no serious thrust has been given in the past decade to resolve these long-pending files, which defeats the very purpose of compassionate appointments.
