YSS leads with football tournament in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jul 9: With football as their rallying cry and a drug-free future as their goal, 144 U-17 boys from across Srinagar united under the ‘Play for Drug-Free Srinagar’ campaign, launched by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) J&K.

As per a statement issued on Wednesday, the event began on a heartfelt note at the polo ground in Srinagar with players taking a solemn pledge to champion a drug-free Srinagar, administered by officials from the District YSS Office. The air buzzed with energy as the community rallied behind these young athletes, proving that sports can be a game-changer in shaping a healthier future.

Amirakadal, Gulab Bagh, Hawal, and Batamaloo triumphed over their rivals Nishat, Zaldagar, Eidgah, and Rainawari in gripping matches that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.

The tournament has struck a chord with locals, who see it as more than just a competition it’s a movement to inspire Srinagar’s youth towards positivity, teamwork, and resilience.
