Youm- e- Ashura observed with solemnity in Ganderbal areas

Ganderbal, Jul 6: Paying rich tributes and commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his faithful companions in the battle of Karbala, the Ashura processions were taken out in several areas of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday on eve of Youm- e- Ashura.

The Ashura processions were taken out in Kullan, Nilgrath and Dab areas of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. Mourners were offered water and other refreshments by different organisations to express their devotion. The administration had made required arrangements.

Meanwhile, like every year, the day of Ashura marking the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was observed with religious reverence and solemnity across Kargil district on the 10th of Muharram. The main processions were organized under the banners of Jamiat-ul-Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil and Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT ) with thousands of participation from mourners gathered to pay homage to the supreme sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions in the battle of Karbala. In Kargil town, the traditional mourning procession under the banner of IKMT from Hussaini Park and concluded at Hussaini Park. Thousands of mourners participated in the procession Ashura processions were also held at Sub Divisional headquarter Drass, Sankoo, Shakar Chiktan and several other parts of the Kargil district. The authorities had made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth and proper conduct of the mourning processions. The civil and police administration had made adequate arrangements for the day. Police officials were seen distributing refreshment among the mourners.
