Records shattered in Kashmir as heatwave continues to push mercury higher

Srinagar, July 05: As sweltering heatwave persists in Jammu and Kashmir showing no sign of easing, the temperatures continue to shatter decades-old records leaving farmers high and dry all across the union territory.

As per the insights shared by Kashmir Weather, the capital city, Srinagar at 24.5 C witnessed the fourth highest minimum temperature in July.

The highest minimum temperature in Srinagar is 25.2°C recorded on 21 July in 1988. The second highest minimum temperature recorded in the city on 29 July 2024 is 24.8°C. And the third highest minimum temperature, which is 24.6°C, was also recorded in 2024 on 28 July

As per the Kashmir Weather, at 23.4°C, Qazigund recorded its Highest Ever Minimum Temperature in July. The previous record was 22.8°C recorded on 18 July 1997

Pahalgam, on the premiere tourist resorts located in south Kashmir, at 20.0°C recorded its 2nd highest minimum temperature in July. The first 1st highest minimum temperature is 20.2°C recorded on 30 July 2013 and the 3rd highest minimum temperature at 19.7°C was recorded on 26 July 2021.

Kokernag in south Kashmir at 21.8°C recorded its 2nd highest minimum temperature in July this year. It’s first highest is 22.6°C which was recorded on 02 July 2005 and its third highest is 21.7°C, recorded on 09 July 2006
