Congress always empowered women: Tariq Karra

Srinagar, Jul 2: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra today said that Congress always empowered women.

According to a press release, he was addressing a day long Mahila Congress convention here. The convention was part of Congress’s movement “Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq”. Karra asserted that the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was credited for women empowerment, while having demonstrated her determination to bring women at par with the men in respect of proper representation and equality in the society.

The Congress leader said that women empowerment is Congress’s “baby and the party has done enough to empower women in the country, assuring that the party under the leadership of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and leader of opposition in Lok sabha Rahul Gandhi will continue to work vigorously for women empowerment to the fullest. “BJP is befooling nation over women empowerment, whil as it (BJP) has done nothing, but used women empowerment for political gains,”he said.
