Er Rashid ends hunger strike

Srinagar, Jun 29: Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) Chief Spokesperson Inam- Un- Nabi on Sunday said that incarcerated Member of Parliament and AIP President Engineer Rashid has concluded his 24-hour long hunger strike inside Tihar Jail.

In a statement he said the hunger strike was observed from 8 PM on June 28 to 8 PM on June 29 and was aimed at highlighting the “plight of political prisoners and drawing attention to the ongoing denial of justice and democratic rights in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Inam- Un- Nabi said: “We express our heartfelt gratitude to all members of civil society, human rights defenders, students and public-spirited individuals who stood in solidarity with Engineer Rashid during his hunger strike. Many visited our party office, while others spoke to us over the phone — every gesture of support matters and sends a strong message that conscience in our society is alive. Their presence and concern not only uplifted our spirits but also underlined the growing awareness about the injustice being faced by Er Rashid and other political detainees. We urge all democratic voices across Nation to break the silence and raise their voice for justice, democracy and the immediate release of all JK prisoners languishing in different jails in and outside Jammu and Kashmir besides MP Er Rashid”.
