Crime Branch Kashmir conducts searches in alleged date of birth date tampering case

Srinagar, Jun 13: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, of the Crime Branch, Jammu and Kashmir, on Saturday conducted searches in Shopian and Pulwama districts as part of an investigation into an alleged service record fraud involving manipulation of date of birth entries.

According to a statement, the searches were carried out in connection with an FIR registered under relevant provisions of law. The investigation pertains to the alleged fraudulent insertion and manipulation of date of birth entries in service records to secure undue benefits.

During the searches, investigators examined documents and other material believed to be linked to the case. The operation was conducted at the office of the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Shopian, and at his residence in Thamuna area of Pulwama district.

The Crime Branch said the searches were conducted in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures and in the presence of independent witnesses.

Meanwhile, the Economic Offences Wing advised the public to remain vigilant against economic fraud and report such incidents to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, Crime Branch, J&K. Victims of economic fraud can also submit complaints through the official email address, sspeow-kmr@jkpolice.gov.in.
