The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from volunteers, social activists, and members of the local community who came forward to donate blood and contribute to the noble cause of saving lives. The event was aimed at recognizing the invaluable contribution of voluntary blood donors and encouraging more people, especially youth, to embrace blood donation as a humanitarian responsibility.

Speaking on the occasion, Civil Society Sopore Chairman Aashiq Hussain Zaki highlighted the importance of World Blood Donor Day and paid tribute to the countless individuals who selflessly donate blood whenever the need arises. He said that voluntary blood donors are the backbone of emergency healthcare services and often become a ray of hope for patients battling critical illnesses, accidents, and medical emergencies.

“World Blood Donor Day is an opportunity to acknowledge and honor those noble souls who remain available round the clock to donate blood and save precious lives. Their selfless service reflects the highest values of humanity and social responsibility,” Zaki said. He further stressed the need for creating greater awareness about blood donation and building a strong network of voluntary donors across society. Block Medical Officer (BMO) Sopore, Dr. Zulfiqar Nabi Sofi, lauded the efforts of Civil Society Sopore for organizing the camp and consistently working on social and humanitarian causes. He underscored the importance of regular blood donation in maintaining adequate blood reserves in hospitals and healthcare institutions.

Dr Sofi noted that the availability of safe and sufficient blood remains crucial for treating patients undergoing surgeries, accident victims, women facing complications during childbirth, and individuals suffering from various medical conditions. He urged healthy individuals to donate blood regularly, describing it as a simple act that can make a significant difference in saving lives. The camp witnessed an encouraging response, with several volunteers donating blood and expressing their commitment to supporting patients in need. Health officials and organizers also interacted with participants, spreading awareness about the benefits and safety of blood donation.

The event concluded with appreciation for all donors, volunteers, healthcare workers, and organizers who contributed to the successful conduct of the camp. Participants reiterated the message that donating blood is one of the greatest gifts a person can offer, as a single donation has the potential to save multiple lives.

The organisers expressed hope that such initiatives would inspire more people to become regular voluntary blood donors and strengthen the spirit of community service and compassion in society.
