Jammu, 12, June 2026: In view of the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026, Sujit Kumar, IPS , IGP Security J&K today conducted a comprehensive review of the security arrangements being put in place at the newly established River Front Lodging & Registration Centre, Jammu, which is being set up for the first time to facilitate registration and lodging facilities for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims.

Besides the River Front Centre, the IGP Security also inspected other important Yatra transit and accommodation camps, including Bhagwati Nagar, Chanderkote (Ramban) and Lamber (Banihal), to assess the preparedness of the security set-up and review the arrangements being made for the safe and smooth conduct of the Yatra.

At Jammu, the IGP Security J&K was accompanied by SSP Security Jammu and other officers of Security Jammu. A detailed inspection of the River Front Lodging & Registration Centre and Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas was carried out, during which officers briefed him regarding the security arrangements, access control measures and other preparations being undertaken for the forthcoming Yatra.

At Chanderkote and Lamber the IGP Security J&K was accompanied by SSP Ramban, SO to IGP Security and officers of District Police Ramban. A comprehensive review of the security arrangements at both camps was conducted, and the officers briefed him regarding the preparedness, deployment plans and security measures envisaged for the safe movement and stay of pilgrims.

The review focused on the establishment of robust access control mechanisms, comprehensive anti-sabotage check procedures, effective security cut-offs, perimeter security arrangements, and the identification and plugging of all vulnerable spots. Special emphasis was laid on ensuring seamless regulation of pilgrim movement, crowd management, surveillance coverage, emergency response preparedness and optimum deployment of manpower and security gadgets at all critical locations.

IGP Security also reviewed the arrangements for frisking, baggage screening, vehicle checking, access regulation and round-the-clock monitoring of sensitive areas. He stressed upon the need for maintaining a high level of alertness and ensuring strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all camps and transit locations.

During the inspection, necessary directions were issued to the officers concerned for further strengthening the security grid, enhancing coordination among all stakeholder agencies and ensuring foolproof security arrangements for the pilgrims. He emphasized that regular security audits, vulnerability assessments and anti-sabotage checks should be carried out to address emerging challenges and maintain a secure environment throughout the Yatra period.

The IGP Security reiterated that all necessary measures are being undertaken by Security Wing, J&K Police, in close coordination with district police, CAPFs and other stakeholder agencies to ensure the safe, secure and hassle-free conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026.
