Mass marriage assistance programme supports 30 girls from disadvantaged families in Handwara

Handwara, Jun 09: A mass marriage assistance programme for 30 girls belonging to economically weaker families was organised by Smile Foundation at the Environmental Hall in Handwara, providing support to families facing financial hardships.

The initiative formed part of the organisation’s ongoing efforts to assist vulnerable sections of society and promote social welfare through community-based interventions.

A number of dignitaries, social activists and representatives of civil society attended the programme, including International Human Rights Chairman Kupwara Abdul Rashid Shah and members of the Handwara Traders Union, among them Sahil Abdul Rashid.

Speakers at the event underlined the importance of collective social responsibility in supporting families facing economic challenges and ensuring that deserving sections of society receive timely assistance.

They observed that such initiatives play a meaningful role in easing financial burdens on families while fostering a spirit of solidarity and social support within society.

The gathering also highlighted the contribution of voluntary organisations in addressing social concerns and extending assistance to those in need through humanitarian and welfare-oriented programmes.

Smile Foundation was appreciated for its efforts in supporting underprivileged families and undertaking initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of disadvantaged groups across the region.
