During the meeting, the Grand Mufti stressed the collective responsibility of all stakeholders in strengthening peace, communal harmony and social cohesion across J&K.

The Grand Mufti held detailed discussions on several pressing issues, including youth unemployment, developmental challenges, law and order, environmental protection and the preservation of J&K’s ecological heritage. Concern was also expressed over the continued encroachment of Dal Lake and other water bodies, with a call for sustained conservation efforts to safeguard these vital natural resources.

The Grand Mufti emphasised the need to strengthen anti-polythene campaigns and encourage greater public participation in environmental protection initiatives, noting that environmental conservation is essential for sustainable development and public well-being.

A significant part of the discussion focused on the dignified return of Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley.

The Grand Mufti reiterated that the return of the displaced community should take place in an atmosphere of security, mutual respect and confidence, in keeping with Kashmir’s long-standing tradition of coexistence and brotherhood.

LG Sinha appreciated the suggestions put forward during the meeting and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to addressing public concerns, accelerating developmental initiatives, creating employment opportunities and maintaining peace and communal harmony.

He also assured full cooperation in matters related to public welfare, environmental conservation and social development.
