
Jawahar Nagar Higher Secondary School, St. Joseph School Baramulla, DPS Baramulla and Birla Open Mind International School Pampore advanced to the semi-finals of the ALFA Interschool Hockey Tournament 2026 after registering convincing victories in their respective quarterfinal matches played here on Monday.
In the first quarterfinal, as per a statement, Jawahar Nagar Higher Secondary School outplayed PM SHRI Higher Secondary School Pahoo, Pulwama 6-1 to seal a place in the last four. Sumit delivered an impressive performance and was adjudged Man of the Match.
St. Joseph School Baramulla produced the most dominant display of the day, thrashing SRM Welkin Sopore 10-0 in the second quarterfinal. Viraj Singh starred for the winners and earned the Man of the Match award.
DPS Baramulla secured a comfortable 5-1 victory over Government Boys Higher Secondary School Handwara in the third quarterfinal. Rajnail Singh was named Man of the Match for his outstanding contribution.
The fourth and final quarterfinal witnessed the closest contest of the day, with Birla Open Mind International School Pampore edging past Jalali English Medium School Pulwama 3-2. Huwaid’s impressive performance earned him the Man of the Match honour.
With the completion of the quarterfinal stage, Jawahar Nagar Higher Secondary School, St. Joseph School Baramulla, DPS Baramulla and Birla Open Mind International School Pampore have qualified for the semi-finals scheduled for June 9.
Organised by Badal Hockey Club under the aegis of Hockey Jammu & Kashmir in association with the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, the tournament features 32 school teams competing for a prize purse of Rs 1 lakh and the championship trophy.
