SRINAGAR: National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Friday called for moral introspection and a renewed adherence to faith and values, while demanding a thorough investigation into the alleged NEET paper leak and reiterating that dialogue remains the only viable path to resolving longstanding issues.

Speaking to reporters at Hazratbal Shrine in Srinagar, Abdullah commented on the Budgam incident, the controversy surrounding the NEET examination, and the prevailing security and political situation.

Expressing concern over what he described as a decline in societal values, the former Chief Minister urged people to reconnect with spiritual and ethical principles.

He said society had strayed from moral values and called for self-correction, stressing the need for individuals to return to faith and uphold ethical responsibility.

On the controversy surrounding the NEET examination, Abdullah sought a comprehensive and transparent probe into allegations of paper leakage, saying the issue had shaken public confidence and jeopardised the future of students.

He said the matter required serious investigation and accountability, adding that examination-related controversies reported from several states warranted impartial scrutiny to preserve the credibility of competitive examinations.

Addressing broader political concerns, Abdullah maintained that dialogue remained the only practical route to resolving disputes and enduring challenges.

“Dialogue is the only way to settle problems,” he said, underscoring the need for engagement and communication over confrontation.
